Pieter Elbers steps down as CEO

India's largest airline IndiGo said farewell to its CEO, Pieter Elbers yesterday, who left the carrier with immediate effect. The former CEO of Dutch Flag Carrier KLM, had been with the Indian carrier for 4 years, but operational issues over the past 12 months have resulted in a $2.6 Million fine from the Indian Regulator, and ultimately Elbers' departure.

Spirit recalls 500 pilots

The beleaguered ultra low-cost carrier has sent recall notices to 500 pilots over the past few days, as it battles to cope with higher than expected attrition rates, whilst it restructures its operations under Chapter 11 Bankruptcy protection. The airline is hoping to emerge from Chapter 11 later this year so the recalled pilots are essential to that plan.
